Privacy Policy

Real Sight Reader works without an account. Your imported music stays on your device. You can optionally use an email sign-in link to sync browser practice progress. We do not sell personal data or show advertising.

What we collect

Anonymous browser practice stores your level, selected repertoire, completed sessions, and recently seen exercises in your browser's local storage.

We also save practice take records on our servers, including when you practice without an account. Records contain the expected and played notes, timing, velocity and pedal events where available, passage references, and whether the take was interrupted. We use these records to understand and improve practice and scoring.

Signed-in takes are associated with your account. Anonymous takes use a browser identifier and available PostHog person/device identifiers; these are stored separately from account identity. Uploads can retry after reconnecting. Retained older browser takes may also be uploaded, marked as historical records with unknown account ownership.

If you choose progress sync, we store your email address, placement result, selected repertoire, recent session summaries and exercise outcomes, plus the timestamps needed to merge progress between browsers. We also store short-lived, one-use sign-in records and a secure session cookie. No password is collected.

Analytics and operations

The website and iOS app use product analytics to understand page and screen use, feature interactions, and crashes. This may include device or browser details and network metadata processed by our hosting and analytics providers. We use this information to operate and improve Real Sight Reader, not for advertising. If you choose to send page feedback, PostHog stores your reaction, optional message, and the reading context shown when you sent it.

Email and hosting providers

Cloudflare hosts the website, stores take records in private R2 object storage with a D1 database index, stores synced progress, and sends sign-in emails. PostHog processes product analytics. These providers process data only to provide their services to us.

Microphone

If you use microphone following, the app asks for microphone access to detect the pitch of single notes in real time, entirely on your device. Pitch-detection audio is not recorded, saved, or transmitted. A separate, optional “record my audio” control can make a local recording for a share video; that recording stays on your device unless you choose to share it.

Your imported music

MusicXML files you import are read and stored only on your device. They are never uploaded.

Retention and deletion

You can sign out without deleting local browser progress. From the completed-session screen, choose Delete account to remove your email, cloud practice state, account-linked takes, outcomes, and active sessions. Anonymous records are retained separately; contact us with your browser identifier to request their deletion. You can also request deletion at the contact address below. Local browser data can be removed with your browser's site-data controls.

Children

Anonymous practice does not require personal information. Learners who need a parent or guardian's permission to use an optional online account should obtain it before signing in.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, we'll update this page and revise the effective date above.
