Common questions

How do I practice my own music?

Tap Upload a song on the home screen and pick a MusicXML file (.xml or .mxl) — the kind most notation apps and online score libraries export. Real Sight Reader turns it into reading and rhythm drills. You can also start from the bundled classical library.

What does the difficulty rating mean?

Each piece is graded — beginner, intermediate, advanced, or expert — from how it actually reads: note density, range, accidentals, key, leaps, and rhythmic complexity. It's a guide, not a gate; play whatever you like.

How is my tapping scored?

Taps are graded against the beat as perfect, good, or okay, with a per-bar breakdown so you can see exactly where you rushed or dragged. You can calibrate timing for your device under Settings → Latency.

Do I need a MIDI keyboard?

No. Everything works with on-screen taps and keys. MIDI play-along modes are optional extras for when you have a keyboard connected.

Where is my data?

Practice stays in your browser unless you choose email sign-in after a session. Signed-in learners can sync their level, selected repertoire, and recent practice between browsers, or delete the cloud account from the same completed-session screen. Imported MusicXML stays on your device. See our Privacy Policy.
